The calendar used in Iran -the Persian calendar- is based on solar system which starts at the beginning of spring each year. Beside the weekend holiday here which is on Fridays there are also some more religious and/or non-religious holidays.
For non-religious holidays mostly is related to old days, connected to traditions of ancient Persia. For example at the beginning of the New Year –Nowruz- we have 4 bank holidays, or the 13th of the first month –the nature day- is also an official banking holiday.
As the official religion in Iran is Islam so there are some religious holidays based on Arabic – Lunar calendar which is changing – for some days- each year. Here we list some of these holidays.
Those written in black are just official holidays while those written in red historical sites and museums are closed as well.
